According to Official List of Philippine Holidays for 2011 (which is based on Proclamation No. 84 signed by Pres. Noynoy Aquino), "there is no more holiday economics meaning, dates of the holidays are not anymore moved to the nearest Monday or Friday."

The upcoming Labor day, which happens to fall on a Sunday this year will not be observed on its nearest monday.

Since the holiday will fall on Sunday, employees won't receive additional payment except when they are required to work on that day.

Also, the labor groups have no choice but to celebrate this on sunday because on May 2 is a regular working day.
