August 30, 2011 (Tuesday) Is Now An Official Regular Non-working Holiday - Palace
Malacañang Palace has officially declared August 30, 2011 as a regular non-working holiday throughout the country in celebration of the Muslim festival Eid'l Fitr.
The declaration was made by President Aquino via Proclamation No.234 where it says that to promote cultural understanding and integration, the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid'l Fitr.
The proclamation also says that "in order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid'l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Tuesday, 30 August 2011, as a regular holiday throughout the country."
Those who will be required to render work will have to be compensated based on the existing labor law.
It seems like the Philippines has an upcoming 4-day long weekend on the last week of August, 2011
August 29, 2011 (Monday) is also a holiday in celebration of the National Heroes Day in the Philippines.
