Reminder: Declared Special Non-working Holiday on June 20, 2011 (Rizal 150th Birth Anniversary)

Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippin...                          Image via WikipediaPresident Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III declared last April 26, 2011 via Proclamation no 154 that on June 20,2011 (Monday) is a special non-working holidaythroughout the country. This is to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) requested Malacanang to declare the holiday on June 20, 2011 (monday) instead of June 19, 2011 (sunday) to give opportunity to all Filipinos to commemorate Rizal's patriotic deeds and sacrifices for the country, rekindle their admiration and respect for him, and to celebrate this milestone with appropriate ceremonies.
